The award winning Hermitage Lodge is nestled on 25 acres in the heart of the vineyards of the Hunter Valley and is within walking distance of many of the areas popular wineries and tourist attractions. Hermitage Lodge was a winner in the 2006 and 2004 HMAA (Hotel, Motel & Accommodation Association) Industry Awards for Excellence, and a finalist in 2003.
Hermitage Lodge has twenty studios and suites offering the discerning guest four star boutique accommodation and personal, attentive service rarely found today. The rooms are large, comfortable and tastefully decorated with a great deal of attention to detail. Eleven of these rooms, a mix of studios and suites, were built in the first half of 2006. Hermitage Lodge is also home to the award-winning restaurant Il Cacciatore, voted Best Italian Restaurant, Hunter Region from 2001-2005. Il Cacciatore also represented Regional NSW at the National Restaurant & Catering Awards in 2001 and 2004.
The key to good Italian food is freshness. There are no second bests and no Italian chef would even contemplate preparing a dish without the best quality, freshest ingredients. The seasonal menu takes advantage of fresh local produce, authentic Italian ingredients and house made pastas. Il Cacciatore is fully licensed, with full bar service, and a wine list showcasing some of the Hunters best wines.
The restaurant is open for dinner nightly from 6:00 p.m. and for lunch on weekends from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
